He is Risen I recently took part in an exhibition at St Laurence’s Church, Falmer .
We had been encouraged to produce work on the theme of the Resurrection.
It was challenging to try and express something so significant in two dimensions.
I used two different media in my final piece, Japanese Woodblock print and watercolour with indian ink to express the different materialities of the subject matter.

In Mandy’s work we see Christ emerge from the tomb but this time from the inside looking outwards.  As a result it has a great intimacy but at the same time because Christ’s face isn’t visible, he is also unknown. His body is spiritually renewed but the wounds are in no way minimised.  Christ leads the way from the place of death into life.
.. the figure is changing still and I was very conscious that it's an image that nobody sees in the gospels, except perhaps the angels?, so it not feeling fixed feels appropriate
